Nestled on Via Umbria in the charming city of Taranto, La Piccola Trattoria is a true gem for lovers of Southern Italian cuisine. This family-run trattoria captures the essence of authentic Italian dining with an intimate, welcoming atmosphere that feels like a home away from home. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warmth and passion, reflecting the genuine hospitality of Alessia and Giorgia, the heart of this delightful establishment.
The culinary experience here is nothing short of exceptional. Highlighting traditional Southern Italian dishes crafted with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients, La Piccola Trattoria serves plates that are as flavorful as they are comforting. Guests often rave about the delicate, buttery texture of their Ravioli — lovingly handmade and bursting with rich fillings — and the vibrant antipasti, a perfect introduction to the flavors of the region. If you’re lucky, the risotto ai frutti di mare might grace your table, a seafood risotto that combines the briny freshness of the sea with creamy, perfectly cooked rice, creating a harmony of taste and texture that leaves a lasting impression.
The dining experience here is intimate and genuine. Unlike bustling tourist spots, La Piccola Trattoria offers a quietly vibrant ambiance where conversation flows as easily as the house wine. The familial touch is evident not only in the dishes but in the interactions, as Alessia and Giorgia extend their warmth and humor, making every visit feel like a reunion with old friends. As one guest aptly shared, “You’ll struggle to find a better place and better value in Taranto.” Indeed, the balance of high-quality food, sincere service, and reasonable prices make this trattoria a standout choice.
Though slightly off the city’s beaten path, the location is perfectly accessible on foot, providing a pleasant stroll that primes your appetite for the authentic flavors waiting inside. Whether celebrating a special occasion or simply seeking an honest, delicious meal, La Piccola Trattoria consistently delivers satisfaction both in taste and atmosphere. Patrons return not just for the food, but for the heartfelt service and the unmistakable feeling of belonging to a warm Italian table.

What a great experience. Just the kind of place you hope to find on a trip to Italy. Family run and very friendly with excellent food to match. It's a bit out of the centre of the city but still an easy walk to get to. You'll struggle to find a better place and better value in Taranto. Highly recommended.

Locale curato e pulito. Personale super gentile, cordiale e disponibile. Allego due foto di un risotto ai frutti di mare eccezionale e una buonissima frittura mista! Ho fatto asporto veloce, di un sapore e freschezza dei prodotti unica! Consigliato. Grazie

Excellent food and service. Not a typical tourist place, which made it a worthwhile stop. The girls were excellent. We made them practice their English as our Italian is not so good.
